The following spills were reported to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in the past two weeks.

Information is based on Form 19, which operators must fill out detailing the leakage/spill events. Any spill release that may impact waters of the state must be reported as soon as practical. Spills and leaks typically are found during routine maintenance on existing wells, though some actual “spills” do occur among the 18,000-plus wells in the county.

» DCP OPERATING COMPANY LP reported Sept. 22 a historical pipeline release near U.S. 76 and Weld County Road 386, about 5 miles northeast of Roggen. An unknown amount of condensate spilled. The operator observed distressed vegetation at the location during routine inspections, exposed the condensate line and found a pinhole leak caused by the pipe’s internal integrity. The line was shut-in and blown down. The damaged portion of the line was repaired. Delineation of impacted soil began with a third-party consultant.

» NOBLE ENERGY INC reported Sept. 21 a historical tank battery spill near Weld 66 and 43, about seven miles northeast of Greeley. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Lab analysis indicated a historical release at the decommissioned tank battery. Two soil samples exceed for benzene at , 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, naphthalene, total petroleum hydrocarbons and 2-methylnaphthalene.

» NOBLE ENERGY INC reported Sept. 20 a historical well spill near Weld 59 and 50, about 5 miles southeast of Kersey. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Lab analysis indicated a historical release at the decommissioned wellhead. One soil sample exceeded COGCC protection of groundwater standards for 1-methylnaphthalene.

» NOBLE ENERGY INC reported Sept. 20 a historical well spill near Weld 43 and 30, about 9 miles east of Platteville. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Lab analysis indicated a historical release at the decommissioned wellhead. Three soil samples exceeded COGCC standards for benzene, total petroleum hydrocarbons, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, 1,3,5- trimethylbenzene, naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene and 2-methylnaphthalene.

» KP KAUFFMAN COMPANY INC reported Sept. 18 a recent flowline spill near Weld 21 and 20 in Firestone. Less than 1 barrel of oil and produced water spilled. Workers discovered oil in the ground while digging a trench. The Greeley Fire Department was contacted.

» KP KAUFFMAN COMPANY INC reported Sept. 17 a recent flowline spill near Weld 19 and 14 in Frederick. Less than 1 barrel of oil and produced water spilled. Fort Lupton Fire Department responded to a leak. The operator shut in the wells and lines associated with the release.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 16 a historical tank battery spill near Weld 46 1/2 and 19 in Johnstown. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found following facility decommissioning. Excavation and assessment are ongoing.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 16 a historical tank battery spill near Weld 45 and 22, about 7 miles north of Hudson. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found following facility decommissioning. Excavation and assessment are ongoing.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 16 a historical well spill near Weld 18 and 15 in Firestone. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found following wellhead decommissioning. Excavation and assessment are ongoing.

» EXTRACTION OIL & GAS INC reported Sept. 16 a recent tank battery spill near Howard Smith Avenue and Kodak Drive in Windsor. An unknown amount of oil and produced water spilled. Maintenance teams found a sheen on the water inside containment. The spill source and volume are unknown. The investigation is ongoing. The spill was contained inside the secondary containment.

» NOBLE ENERGY INC reported Sept. 16 a historical flowline spill near Weld 57 and 40, about 10 miles south of Kersey. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Lab analysis indicated a historical release at the decommissioned flowline. Two soil samples exceeded COGCC standards for benzo(a)anthracene and benzo(a)pyrene.

» CRESTONE PEAK RESOURCES OPERATING LLC reported Sept. 16 a historical flowline spill near U.S. 85 and Weld 30 in Platteville. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. The operator found a historical release during flowline decommissioning. One soil sample exceeded COGCC standards.

» CRESTONE PEAK RESOURCES OPERATING LLC reported Sept. 15 a recent tank battery spill near Weld 28 and 21 1/2, about 4 miles southwest of Platteville. Approximately 3 barrels of produced water spilled. The lease operator found a failure on the bottom of the separator during a morning walkthrough. The separator was immediately drained and all standing fluid was recovered.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 15 a historical tank battery spill near Weld 24 1/2 and Arbor Street, about 3 miles south of Mead. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found near the above-ground storage tanks during tank battery removal. The volume of the release is unknown. An assessment is being conducted.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 14 a historical well spill near Weld 32 1/2 and 21 in Platteville. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found near the wellhead. The volume of the release is unknown. Assessment is ongoing.

An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found following cut and cap at the wellhead. Excavation and assessment are ongoing.

» KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported Sept. 14 a historical well spill near Weld 39 and 32, about 9 miles east Platteville. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. Historically impacted soil was found near the wellhead during plugging and abandonment. The volume of the release is unknown. Assessment is ongoing.

» KP KAUFFMAN COMPANY INC reported Sept .14 a recent flowline spill near Weld 23 and 14 1/2, about 3 miles northwest of Fort Lupton. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water spilled. The operator was notified by a third-party contractor that the off-facility flowline was damaged. The well was shut-in.
