Beer lovers can get their fill without a guilty conscience knowing they are doing good for the Topeka community Saturday.

Tap That Beer Fest will have more than 300 brews to choose from 3 to 7 p.m. on the east side of the Kansas Statehouse, between the 800 and 900 blocks of S.W. Jackson.

Founded 10 years ago, the event will go on rain or shine. Most drinkers stay on the move.

"Typically, they spend the whole time traveling around and sampling the beers," said Stephanie Wilhelm Norwood, Greater Topeka Partnership director of events.

Breweries represented include Blind Tiger, Happy Bassett, Norseman, Iron Rail, Defiance, Wichita Brewing Co./Tallgrass, River City Brewing, Walnut River, Willcott, Radius, Boulevard Brewing, Molson Coors, Tivoli Brewing, Empyrean Brewing, Kansas Territory Brewing and Manhattan Brewing.

A couple of the events' of areas are shaded, one specifically for VIPs. The other is for regular guests.

"That one will have water and seating, so people can take a break, Norwood said, adding, "We have a small gaming center where we have cornhole and Jenga, just things to do other than drinking.

"We also have a DJ at the center of the event that helps keep the vibe up. People do tend to dance a little later in the event."

Food trucks will be lining the streets to offer their fare. Trucks include Poppin Squeeze, Taqaueria Mexico Lindo, Stumpy's Smoked Cheese and J Rock Smokehouse.

New to the event is an oxygen bar, which some say help with hangovers, headaches and brighten the spirit.

Brought in by Empower Life — Red Light Therapeutics, 3345 S.W. Gage Blvd., the oxygen is often mixed with soothing or uplifting scents.

"We can add essential oils," said owner Danyle Harvey. "That's what the bottles are, essentially. And then you can put in essential oils like peppermint, which is our main oil that we use in the studio.

The oxygen isn't from a tank but is pulled from the air.

"It actually is a condenser," Harvey said. "So it's pulling out oxygen and dumping it, and then pushing it through."

The oxygen bar will be available throughout the evening, including at the Second Saturday Concert going on from 7 to 9 p.m. at Celtic Fox, 118 S.W. 8th Ave.

"They wanted to make sure that they were hitting people as they were at their peak of drinking so that is why they will also be at Celtic Fox that night," said Norwood.

Event goers who don't bring a designated driver can get home by using Uber or Lyft. Cyrus Hotel, 920 S. Kansas Ave., and Ramada Downtown, 420 S.E. 6th St., are within walking distance.

The event raises money that goes to other free events put on by the partnership.

Prior to the event, VIP tickets are $75, general admission are $40, general admission designated driver tickets are $10 and VIP designated driver tickets are $20.

On Saturday, general admission ticket will be $50, general admission designated driver tickets will be $20 and VIP designated driver tickets will be $30.
