China-based specialist engineering company Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (DL) Co. Ltd on Monday (1 August) said it signed a contract to supply methanol fuel supply system packages for six 1,170 TEU dual fuel container vessels with Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd, and New Dayang Shipping Co., Ltd. in June 2022.
The methanol supply module within the fuel system will be manufactured by Alfa Laval while the shipowner of the vessels is Singapore-based X-Press Feeders and the classification society involved is DNV.
The deliveries of the methanol fuel supply systems are scheduled to start in June 2023.
The vessels will be equipped with the latest version two-stroke MeOH fuelled LGIM engines that are able to run on methanol as well as conventional fuels. By using green methanol as energy source, the ships will be able to operate with lower carbon emissions.
Guohong Liquefied Gas will be responsible for providing the complete methanol fuel gas supply system. The scope of contract includes: completed skids of methanol fuel bunkering stations, methanol supply system module (Alfa Laval), fuel storage tank and service tank monitoring and measurements system, ESD system, FVT, nitrogen generator and nitrogen booster as well as system commissioning, methanol fuel sea trial, and crew training.
