POTTSTOWN — The Foundation for Pottstown Education recently received a $77,000 grant from the Justamere Foundation which will provide equipment for Pottstown High School’s Career and Technical Education programs.

The funding will provide new equipment for the Healthcare Technology, Automotive Technology and Construction Technology programs.

Through this grant, the Healthcare Technology program now has a Sectra Visualization Table, a large, multi-touch medical display with software that facilitates interaction with 3D images of the human body created by modern computer tomography or magnetic resonance cameras.

Students are able to intuitively zoom in, rotate or cut into the visualized body without using a scalpel or destroying the subject. This means that the same image can be used repeatedly, and the students are able to study the impact of various illnesses on anatomy in a manner that was not possible in teaching in the past. The healthcare technology courses also added two hospital beds with funding from the grant.

The automotive technology and construction technology programs now have access to an industrial air compressor thanks to the Justamere Foundation. This will replace an outdated, disruptively loud compressor system utilized by the programs.

Equipment purchases also include a Chicago Pneumatic Rotary Screw Compressor with 6,000-hour service kit, rotary plus 5-gallon pail, oil analysis kit, non-cycling refrigerated air dryer, inline general purpose filter assembly and inline coalescing filter assembly.

The Pottstown High School Career and Technical Education program serves 540 students per year in nine areas. Besides the three mentioned, students can enroll in classes for cosmetology, culinary arts, early childhood education, engineering, entrepreneurship and marketing.

“We are pleased to partner with organizations like the Foundation for Pottstown Education as they help us connect with the true needs of the community and maximize our impact,” said Lori Cushman, president of the Justamere Foundation.

“The Justamere Foundation is dedicated to working with our community partners to find innovative ways to help our neighbors through education, coaching, and connections,” she said. “Its mission is to impact generational poverty through grants for career education and supporting programs. Funding this project truly fits the mission of the Justamere Foundation.”
