On Thursday morning, regional collector S Aneesh Sekhar and MP Su Venkatesan opened two pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants at the government Rajaji Hospital (GRH).
The two 1,000 liters per minute (LPM) capacity plants are part of a series of PSA oxygen plants established in each state and Utah under the PM CARES fund.
Today, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) unveiled almost 35 of them at an AIIMS event in Rishikesh. In synchronization with the main event, the Madurai unit located in the professional district was launched. GRH Dean Dr. A. Rathinavel, Director of Anesthesia, Dr. M. Kalyana Sundaram, node officials of the oxygen plant, and MLA Ko Thalapathi and P. Moorthi also attended the inauguration.
Now, these two new oxygen generator plants will increase GRH's oxygen supply capacity to 6,200 LPM. The hospital also has 20,000 liters of liquid oxygen tanks available for use.
Dr. Sundaram said: “We do not expect hospitals to experience a shortage of oxygen for COVID-19 patients in the future.” After the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, PSA factories were used for medical needs, when the demand for oxygen-supported beds reached its peak. , There is a shortage of supply, because during this period, the hospital only relied on liquid oxygen supply.
From June to the present, GRH has built two PSA generators in the old building, and installed three PSA generators each near the trauma center and the professional block. From 200 LPM to 1,000 LPM, factories with different capacities have been sponsored by various associations and philanthropists. Dr. Sundaram said that three more are in preparation for its Thoppur Center.
