Bangladesh receives ambulance and oxygen generator from South Korea

The government of the Republic of Korea has donated 8 ambulances and 100 oxygen generators to the government of Bangladesh to support its efforts to overcome the new crown pneumonia epidemic and improve the capacity of the country’s health sector. The handover ceremony was held at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday. The Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun, the Director-General of DGHS Professor Abdul Bashar Khurshid Alam, and the country director of KOICA Bangladesh Office Doh Young-Ah and other DGHS officials. Ambassador Li said that South Korea’s continued support, including the donation of eight ambulances for the fight against Covid-19 in Bangladesh, symbolizes the friendship between South Korea and Bangladesh. "We will support our Bangladeshi friends." Director General Alam expressed his heartfelt gratitude to South Korea for its support and hoped that these ambulances would provide necessary services to the Bangladeshi people in time and help them save lives. He said that the Bangladeshi government will work with the South Korean government to end the epidemic. This donation was made through the Korean development agency KOICA under the project "Strengthening the quarantine capacity for Covid-19 and other infectious diseases" and was delivered to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) DGHS. The South Korean Embassy in Dhaka said that highly advanced ambulances are also equipped with first aid kits, medical oxygen equipment, personal protective equipment and other emergency-related accessories. The government of the Republic of Korea has provided various assistances to the government of Bangladesh in response to the country’s pandemic, including EDCF loans of 150 million U.S. dollars, 50 million U.S. dollars last year and 100 million U.S. dollars this year, as well as rapid Covid-19 self-help Since the pandemic broke out last year, test kits and other medical equipment.
