The following spills have been reported to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in the past two weeks.

The information is based on Form 19, and the operator must fill in the leak/overflow event in detail. Any leaks that might affect the waters of the state must be reported as soon as possible. Oil spills and leaks are usually discovered during routine maintenance of existing oil wells, although some actual “oil spills” did occur in more than 24,000 oil wells in the county.

»KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported on October 25 that a historic oil well leak occurred near Highways 34 and 37 in Weld County, about 4 miles southeast of Gilcrest. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed. Found historical soil influences. Due to the large amount of affected soil excavated, the leakage becomes reportable.

»BONANZA CREEK ENERGY OPERATING COMPANY LLC reported on October 25 that a pipeline leak occurred at Weld 69, approximately 2 miles south of U.S. 34 and approximately 10 miles southeast of Kersey. An unknown amount of produced water overflowed. The damaged dumping line spilled the produced water to the ground and underground, under the containment of the production tank. The pipeline will be repaired and pressure tested before returning to service. The affected soil will be removed and a confirmed soil sample will be collected.

»EXTRACTION OIL & GAS INC reported on October 22 the recent oil tank battery leakage incident near 12th Street and Ash Avenue in Greeley. About 10 to 20 barrels of oil and produced water overflowed. A fire tube failure was found at the separator, causing oil and produced water to overflow into the unlined secondary containment vessel. Excavation and evaluation are in progress.

»KERR MCGEE OIL & GAS ONSHORE LP reported on October 22 that a historic oil tank battery leak occurred near Weld 36 and 35, about 2.5 miles southeast of Gilcrest. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed. During decommissioning, historical soil influences were discovered under a former above-ground storage tank. Excavation and evaluation are in progress.

»GREAT WESTERN OPERATING COMPANY LLC reported on October 22 that a historic storage tank battery leak occurred near Weld 66 and 23 3/4, about 2 miles east of Windsor. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed. During the closure of the facility, soil effects were seen under the above-ground storage tanks. Clean-up work is in progress.

»NOBLE ENERGY INC reported on October 21 that a historic oil well leak occurred near Weld 40 and 53, located about 7 miles south of Kersey. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed. Laboratory analysis showed a leak at the head of the decommissioned well. The 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene in a soil sample exceeds the COGCC groundwater protection standard.

»NOBLE ENERGY INC reported on October 21 that a historic oil well leak occurred near Weld 52 1/2 and 57, about 1 mile southeast of Kersey. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed. Laboratory analysis shows that it is a historical version. A soil sample exceeded COGCC's groundwater protection standards for benzo(a)anthracene.

»BAYSWATER EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION LLC reported on October 21 that a fuel tank battery leak occurred recently near Weld 80 and 45, about 3 miles northeast of Eaton. An unknown amount of condensate overflows. An oil dumping pipeline failed the annual pressure test. The site was immediately shut down, and the line was blown up. Investigations revealed external corrosion of the dump pipeline and released oil underground in the secondary containment. Clean-up work is in progress.

»WHITING OIL & GAS CORPORATION reported on October 19 the recent leaks at the well sites near Weld 120 and 133, about 10 miles north of Reimer. Less than a barrel of oil spilled. A needle valve on the wellhead released the oil, most of which remained on site, and the mist affected an area of ​​approximately 1,750 square feet south of the field.

»NOBLE ENERGY INC reported on October 18 that a historic oil well leak occurred near Weld 48 and 51, about 3 miles south of Kersey. An unknown amount of oil, condensate and produced water overflowed.
